These latches were designed as a secondary means of locking doors and sections in the galley area as well as galley carts, etc., wherein such an installation is required by the FAA. Many configurations are available, including remotely operated assemblies. Please see 1/4 Turn DIMS Retainer drawings for details.

The KNOB is used as a remote to open the latch. The retainer is installed using a customer supplied 3/16" stainless steel rod which extends to the side knob, and the knob is used to open and closer the retainer. The knob does not have to be installed, but it will be difficult to pull the retainer when closed from within the housing due to small space. Additional Pictures
